How to Make Your Awning Installation a Success

There are many benefits to adding a retractable awning to your home. Having an awning adds to the existing value of your home and creates an appealing and comfortable outdoor environment your family and friends can enjoy. Choosing the right type of awning can easily reduce home energy costs by shielding your home from the elements. When deciding which new awning to install, there are a few factors you should consider to prepare yourself. Below are a few of the most common decisions you should make before your new awning installation.

Size Matters

Choosing the correct size of retractable awning for your home is paramount. This will help ensure the appearance of your home remains well-balanced and visually appealing. We have many sizes to choose from, with the width of the awning ranging from almost 7 feet to 41 feet and the projection ranging from almost 5 feet to 13 feet. If you need help, American Awnings can help guide you in your decision-making.

Awning Materials

Our retractable awnings are available in a variety of materials, all of which have their own unique benefits.

Craft-Bilt Fabrics

Craft-Bilt fabrics are an ideal choice for your awning installation. They have a tighter weave allowing for the fabric to be translucent, stable, and breathable while providing superior water resistance. These fabrics are made of 100% solution-dyed acrylic, providing unmatched color brightness. They are treated with a Dupont Teflon protective coating to extend the life of your awning. These fabrics are made with high-quality raw materials with a strict quality control process to bring you an awning that will live up to your expectations.

Sunbrella & Dickson Fabrics

Sunbrella & Dickson fabrics are another great choice of material. These awning materials are also made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic fiber, ensuring they won’t fade or be damaged by the sun’s rays. Sunbrella & Dickson fabrics have a fluorocarbon finish that efficiently repels water.

Awning Colors

Our awning fabrics come in a wide variety of colors, encompassing all colors of the rainbow. They also come in a variety of styles, from solids to simple and detailed stripe patterns. When choosing a color for your awning fabric, it is best to match it to the aesthetics of the rest of the house to make it cohesive.

Choose Your Style

American Awnings offers many different styles of awnings to choose from including our Estate, Estate Slim Fit, Eko, Manor, and Villa retractable models. You can learn more about these unique styles and discover which style of awning is the perfect fit for your home here

Estate Model

Our most popular model, it provides shade to decks and patios and shields you from the sun’s damaging UV rays. This model comes in our largest array of sizes.

Estate Slim-Fit Model

The Estate Slim-Fit is similar to the Estate Model but designed to fit into smaller spaces. This model is ideal for areas with limited mounting widths, like balconies. The smaller width of the awning does not affect the projection.

Eko Model

Our more affordable option. It comes with the same quality, features, and benefits as our other models, but is available in fewer sizes.

Manor Model

A great option for waterfront homes, this model encases the awning fabric in a cassette to keep dirt and debris off of it.

Villa Model

The Villa Model is similar to the Manor Model as it uses a cassette to protect the awning fabric, but is available in smaller mounting widths. This model also does not require as much framing support as the other models.
